Circular under item 13 of the “Data Protection Code” drawn up in compliance with the Provision issued by the Italian Data Protection Authority 3118884 08.05.2014, published in the Official Gazette of the Italian Republic no. 126 on 3 June 2014.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small pieces of data sent from a website to the user’s computer, where they are saved to then be sent back to the same sites the next time the same user visits them. For the purposes of this policy, cookies can be technical or profiling, depending on what they are being used to do, and first-party or third-party, depending on who installs them.
Technical cookies
Technical cookies are used solely for the purpose of “carrying out the transmission of a communication on an electronic communications network, or insofar as this is strictly necessary to the provider of an information society service that has been explicitly requested by the contracting party or user to provide the said service” (cf. item 122, article 1 of the Data Protection Code).
Technical cookies can be grouped into browsing or session cookies (allowing users to navigate and use a website), analytics cookies (equated to technical cookies insofar as they are used directly by the website manager to collect aggregate information on the number of visitors and the pattern of visits to the website), and functional cookies (allowing users to navigate as a function of certain pre-determined criteria, such as language, so as to improve the quality of service).
Technical cookies do not require prior user consent to be installed and used.
Profiling cookies
Profiling cookies are used to send advertising messages in line with the preferences shown by the user during navigation.
Profiling cookies require user consent.
Third-party cookies
Considering the different entities installing cookies on the user’s computer, depending on whether it is the manager of the website the user is browsing or another site that installs cookies on behalf of the former, they can be grouped into first-party or third-party cookies.

Google Analytics is a tool that helps website and app owners measure how users interact with website content. A set of cookies can be used to collect information and generate statistics on website use without Google personally identifying the individual users.
In addition to generating statistical reports on website use, the Google Analytics pixel tag can be used, along with some advertising cookies described previously, to allow us to show more relevant results in Google domains (like Google searches) and all over the web.
